BAUWERT AG has celebrated the topping out ceremony for the 'Das Rheingau' residential project at the Berlin-Friedenau site. This step marks the complete finalisation of the shell construction for the new apartment building, which will comprise a total of 69 owner-occupied flats. The event acknowledged the project's progress to date and gathered representatives from BAUWERT AG, alongside guests from politics and architecture.

Among the distinguished guests were Alexander Slotty, State Secretary for Building and Head of Department at the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing, and Eva Majewski Sparacino, District Councillor and Head of the Department for Urban Development and Facility Management of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district office. Also present was Siegfried Wik from BONANNI Architekten, the responsible architectural firm, as well as representatives from the companies involved in the construction.

The development of the 'Das Rheingau' project is proceeding according to the original timetable. Excavation of the building pit began in July 2025, and handover to the building contractors took place as planned at the end of October 2025. In November, the visible high-rise construction phase began with the erection of the tower crane. The shell construction was completed approximately ten months after this start, underscoring the efficiency of the project management. Dr. Jürgen Leibfried, founder, shareholder and board member of BAUWERT AG, emphasised that only 14 months had passed from the start of construction to the completion of the shell, which he attributed to careful planning, professional project management and the cooperation of all parties. This demonstrates that BAUWERT consistently and reliably implements projects even in a challenging market environment.

Progress and urban integration

Alexander Slotty highlighted the necessity of rapid and reliable housing construction in Berlin and described the swift progress of the shell construction as a positive signal for the Berlin housing market. Projects such as 'Das Rheingau' demonstrated the possibility of realising ambitious undertakings even under challenging conditions. Jörn Oltmann, District Mayor of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, underlined the importance of such investments in quality housing for the growing district and the project's integration into the established neighbourhoods. With 69 new homes in a location with good transport links, 'Das Rheingau' contributes to Friedenau's development.

Eva Majewski Sparacino emphasised Friedenau's unique urban identity and the need for new buildings to carefully integrate into their surroundings. 'Das Rheingau' combines contemporary living with the characteristic architecture of the district. With the completion of the shell construction, the building's place in the cityscape is now becoming visible. The building, designed by BONANNI Architekten, takes its cues from Friedenau's building culture, which is characterised by old buildings, Gründerzeit villas and country houses. The facade design incorporates natural stone plinths, articulated plastered surfaces, casement windows and cornice bands, combining traditional elements with a modern material language.

Following the completion of the shell construction, the next phase of construction will begin, including facade construction, window installation, roofing, waterproofing work and interior finishing. Show flats are expected to be available for viewing from the end of September. Daniel Herrmann, board member of BAUWERT AG, explained that the show flats are intended to give prospective buyers a concrete impression of the floor plans, materials and fittings of the building. Sales manager Dennis Maruhn reported that over 40 percent of the total 69 owner-occupied flats have already been sold.
