On 15 October, the topping out ceremony was held in Aachen for a section of the Rütscherhof residential quarter. The nationally active project developer Bonava is realising a total project on the site at Roermonder Straße 76, which will comprise 139 residential units upon completion. The celebrations focused on the 109 residential units already erected, whose completion represents an important milestone in the construction process.
The project in Rütscherhof is geared towards heterogeneous use and includes various forms of housing. A total of 60 owner-occupied flats, 43 subsidised student apartments, and 30 micro-apartments are planned. The offering is supplemented by six terraced houses, which expand the range of the new quarter. The full completion of the entire project is scheduled for 2028.
Focus on student housing
A particular focus of the topping out ceremony was on House 6, which will contain 43 subsidised student apartments. These residential units were already acquired in advance by Studierendenwerk Aachen, ensuring their integration into the city's student provision. A representative of Studierendenwerk Aachen was present and underscored the importance of this housing offer in their speech.
Simon Thönes, Project Manager at Bonava, emphasised that the topping out ceremony marked a significant step in the development of Rütscherhof. He highlighted that a diverse range of housing would be created here, addressing different needs – from owner-occupied flats and terraced houses to compact apartments for students. The cooperation with Studierendenwerk Aachen thereby enables the provision of subsidised housing for students.
Favourable location in the Pontviertel
The new residential quarter is located at the foot of Lousberg in Aachen's Pontviertel, an established and sought-after location. The positioning of the site offers a combination of urban proximity and access to green and recreational areas. Aachen city centre is easily accessible from this location. The presence of numerous cafés, bars, and leisure activities contributes to the attractiveness of the district, especially for the student population.
