GARBE Infrastructure Invest GmbH commences its operations as an independent investment advisory company within GARBE Infrastructure. The objective of this new entity is to provide investors with access to infrastructure assets, with a primary focus on the German market. At the same time, the company supports municipalities, municipal utility companies and other public partners throughout the entire life cycle of their infrastructure projects.
The company’s management is overseen by a three-member leadership team: Dr. Thomas Kallenbrunnen serves as CEO, while Dr. Tobias Brosze holds the position of Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Nikolaos Thomas is responsible for finance and operations as CFO/COO. GARBE contributes its six decades of experience in implementation and distinct technical development expertise from projects across various asset classes to this venture.
The key areas of focus for GARBE Infrastructure Invest GmbH are real estate-related infrastructure investments, such as school buildings or operational properties. Furthermore, collaborations with municipal utility companies and municipal enterprises in the energy and supply sectors are central aspects of the business strategy. Transformation and innovation topics, including battery storage systems and data centres, are also part of the investment approach.
Strategic Direction and Leadership
Dr. Thomas Kallenbrunnen comments on the establishment by pointing out that institutional capital for infrastructure investments is available, but new approaches are needed to organise collaboration between the public sector and private expertise. He sees this approach as the core competence of the new company. Dr. Kallenbrunnen also refers to the significant challenges in the German infrastructure sector, which faces a multi-billion euro investment backlog in almost all sub-sectors.
Dr. Tobias Brosze, who previously served as the long-standing Technical Director of Mainzer Stadtwerke AG, brings extensive expertise to the company. There, he was responsible for, among other things, investment programmes for electricity and water supply as well as the strategic planning of heat supply in Mainz and the surrounding region. His experience spans both sides of infrastructure projects – the demands of municipal utility companies and municipalities for reliable partners, and investors' expectations for sustainable investments. He was already involved as a consultant in the formation of the company and joins the management board upon its establishment.
- —Municipal understanding

Dr. Brosze emphasises his knowledge of the decision-making processes of municipalities and municipal enterprises, as well as successful project development from conception to realisation. These competencies, including municipal understanding, energy industry expertise, and implementation and operator competence, are intended to distinguish GARBE Infrastructure Invest.
