HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets investment firm headquartered in Boston, will move into its first New York City office. The company has secured a 10-year agreement for 19,752 square feet, occupying a portion of the 49th floor at 9 West 57th Street, owned by Soloviev Group. The lease signing was reported by Commercial Observer on 20 July 2026.

The exact rent has not been publicly disclosed. However, it is known that Commercial Observer previously reported a record asking rent in this Midtown office tower – also known as the Solow Building – of $327.50 per square foot. This contrasts with the average asking rent for office space in Midtown, which was $98.98 per square foot in the first half of 2026, according to a Colliers study.

Alexander Chudnoff of JLL, who represented HarbourVest Partners along with Ava Loughlin, commented on the importance of the office choice. He emphasised that leading financial companies are increasingly aiming to attract and retain top talent, with the choice of office being a crucial part of this strategy. HarbourVest intended its New York office to reflect the calibre of its business and to provide an outstanding environment for both clients and employees. Few buildings, Chudnoff stated, combine these aspects better than 9 West 57th Street, which continues to attract many of the world's most renowned financial and investment firms.

The Soloviev Group was represented in this transaction by Howard Fiddle, John Maher, Gregg Rothkin, Tara Rhodes, and Alex Leopold of CBRE. A request to CBRE for a statement initially went unanswered.

Built in 1974, 9 West 57th Street is a 49-storey office building. It already houses a number of prominent tenants, including the oil and energy company Hess Group and the global financial firm Tikehau Capital. HarbourVest Partners' new tenancy underscores the continued appeal of this location for world-class financial service providers.
