A Look at David Rasche's New Jersey Abode

Succession" star and wife prioritize family life at their New Jersey home.

D
avid Rasche, the actor known for his role as Karl Muller on HBO's "Succession," and his wife Heather have made their home in Maplewood, N.J., a haven for family. The couple moved from a Manhattan co-op to a six-bedroom Dutch Colonial Revival house in 2019, drawn by its proximity to their daughter Amelia and her family. They were charmed by the town's old-fashioned small-town feel, despite being puzzled by the prevalence of Dutch Colonial architecture.

The Rasches' home is a reflection of their family ties. Many pieces of furniture were inherited from relatives or purchased with them in mind. Heather Rasche said that friends often comment on how similar their homes look, regardless of where they've lived. The couple's eclectic mix of possessions includes a hutch once owned by David's maternal grandmother and a bell from a St. Louis trolley bought for him by his daughter.

The kitchen was renovated to feature Delft-style tiles and deep blue storage drawers inspired by Swedish illustrator Carl Larsson. A weekend house in Columbia County, N.Y., known as Pessimist Farms, allows the family to grow their own food and provides a peaceful retreat. The Rasches' home office is filled with mementos from David's career, including a portrait of his paternal great-grandfather and a lamp belonging to his father.

Throughout the house, the couple has incorporated items collected during their travels, such as rugs from Morocco and a stone bust found in Santa Barbara, Calif. Despite having accumulated many possessions over the years, the Rasches have no intention of stopping their collecting habits anytime soon.
