A
rizona's real estate industry is a significant contributor to the state's economy, accounting for approximately 17% of its gross domestic product. To address growing workforce needs in this dynamic field, Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business will introduce a new Bachelor of Science degree in real estate and applied finance starting fall 2025.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance real estate education at ASU, supported by the W. P. Carey Foundation. The program will be housed within the W. P. Carey Center for Real Estate and Finance, which provides students with access to research, industry mentorship, and immersive experiences that bridge the gap between academia and practice.

According to Mark Stapp, director of the Master of Real Estate Development program, real estate is not just about buildings but also about creating resilient communities through strategic decision-making. The new degree program will equip students with financial insight and analytical skills to shape the future of cities and economies.

The Bachelor of Science degree in real estate and applied finance combines finance and applied learning strengths from the W. P. Carey School, offering a hands-on experience through site visits, projects, and professional exposure. Graduates will be prepared for careers in real estate investment, development, brokerage, lending, and project management or pursue advanced studies in fields like finance, law, or urban planning.

    The program includes:

    * A curriculum integrating financial analysis, real estate principles, and applied problem-solving

    * Experiential learning opportunities through the Experiential Learning Lab

    * Faculty mentorship and industry partnerships through the Center for Real Estate and Finance

    * Opportunities to explore local, national, and global real estate markets

By investing in this new program, ASU aims to develop the next generation of professionals who will lead and innovate across the real estate and financial sectors.
