A
former Australian real estate agent's alleged sabotage has led to a significant blow to his career and his ex-employer's business. Roger Agha, who used to work at Devine Agency, allegedly changed contact numbers of over 900 clients by a single digit in December 2017. He then took these clients to his new employer, Belle Property, using confidential information.
Agha's boss, Steven Devine, had previously informed him that he wouldn't be paid out for his shares unless he agreed to a three-year trade restraint. Agha disagreed with this decision and allegedly engaged in "systematic and repeated sabotage" as determined by the NSW Supreme Court in 2019.
Although the tribunal couldn't confirm whether Agha changed the data, they still canceled his real estate license due to his admission of taking clients from Devine to Belle using confidential information. The case has come at a massive cost for Devine's family business, leading him to exit the company and sell assets to fund legal costs. Agha plans to appeal the cancellation of his license, with the next court date scheduled for October 21.
