Boruch Drillman Faces New Allegations

Boruch Drillman's woes worsen: awaiting sentencing for $165m mortgage scam, faces $2.1m debt ruling.

B
oruch Drillman's troubles have taken a turn for the worse. As he awaits sentencing in a $165 million mortgage fraud scandal and faces eviction from his waterfront home, a Miami-Dade County judge has ruled that he owes $2.1 million in another dispute. The judgment stems from a promissory note default of $1.5 million owed to Arie Harel's company, which Drillman failed to pay off in April 2023.

After the initial default, Harel's firm extended the loan for 75 days, securing a lien on two Florida companies tied to Drillman. However, Drillman defaulted again, prompting Alliance DX to sue him in July 2023 for the principal plus interest. The judge issued the judgment against Drillman nearly a year and a half later.

Drillman's attorney was also sanctioned by the court for "interruptions, speaking objections, and witness coaching" during Drillman's deposition. During the deposition, Drillman repeatedly requested smoke breaks due to his alleged smoking addiction.

This latest development adds to Drillman's mounting legal woes. He pleaded guilty in a Department of Justice investigation into commercial mortgage fraud, which involved using fake documents to inflate property values and secure larger loans. Additionally, an Ohio court recommended that Drillman pay $20 million for violating asbestos laws at a Columbus apartment complex. He also faces eviction from his Bal Harbour condo due to complaints about chain smoking.
