Living alone can be expensive, especially in a city like New York. However, there are affordable options available if you're willing to share the space. Consider this luxurious penthouse duplex at 109 Norfolk St., known as the Switch Building, in the Lower East Side. This stunning penthouse was on the market for a hefty $15,500 per month. While this might seem steep for an average twentysomething, it's not as bad when split between three people with deep pockets.

For three finance bros who wanted to live together, the choice was clear: say no to a sad little $5,000-a-month studio apartment and yes to a luxurious penthouse with plenty of outdoor space in a trendy neighborhood. The penthouse boasts a spacious rooftop terrace of over 900 square feet, perfect for entertaining or relaxing in the fresh air.

The roommates wished to remain anonymous due to their employers' rules, according to their broker, Nest Seekers International's Steven Ké. They tried to rent the penthouse on their own but were rejected. That's when Ké stepped in to help them secure the apartment.

Ké described the apartment as incredible, noting its impressive features such as a chef's kitchen and three bedrooms. He wrote a letter to the owner, highlighting the roommates' strong financial backgrounds and their ability to make timely rent payments.

The roommates have a combined annual salary of over $1 million, which includes retention bonuses and other financial benefits. Ké's expertise in presenting their application in the best possible light helped them secure approval from the owner.

The penthouse duplex is located in a seven-story building with only five units, built in 2005. It features four floor-through apartments and this stunning penthouse duplex. The penthouse is accessed via a private elevator and boasts a loft-style renovated residence with three bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms.

The modern residence is approximately 1,900 square feet, featuring an open chef's kitchen with a double oven, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a wine fridge. The design details include a decorative fireplace, custom built-ins, and wall-to-wall windows that offer breathtaking views of downtown Manhattan.

Two bedrooms share a balcony and a full bath, while the main bedroom suite is located on the second floor, accessible via a suspended staircase. This suite features a walk-in closet with ample storage space and an ensuite bath with heated floors and a soaking tub.

The penthouse also boasts a private roof terrace of over 900 square feet, complete with an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor shower, and panoramic views of downtown Manhattan. The listing broker for this incredible penthouse was Carlos Jacinto of Serhant.
