Brooklyn's Priciest Listing: $25M Gold- and Marble-Filled Mansion

Experience the opulence of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn's hidden gem.

A
jaw-dropping Bay Ridge mansion, dubbed the "Baron of Brooklyn," is hitting the market for a staggering $25 million. The opulent estate was built by Dmitry Epelboym, a Ukraine-born dentist with a passion for old-world architecture.

The 14,000-square-foot property boasts an imported Italian limestone exterior and a foyer coated in gold leaf, painstakingly applied by artisans. No expense was spared on the ornate interiors, featuring precious stones, gilded floral reliefs, and sconces held aloft by griffins.

Epelboym spent eight years building his European palace, sourcing materials from around the world, including imported marble and handpicked limestone from Italy. He even hired artisans to apply gold leaf by hand, a process that stopped counting at $10 million.

The home's marble foyer is a reflection of its owner's style, with massive mirrors lining the walls alongside immense gilded millwork. The surrounding neighborhood is no stranger to large properties, but Boriskin believes this one-of-a-kind home will sell to someone who appreciates its current style rather than wanting to make significant changes.

The time and expense put into the opulent residence are on display in every room, from the precious stone-adorned fireplaces to the gilded chef's kitchen. The basement features a personal spa with a sauna, marble-lined Turkish bath, hot tub, and rustic bucket shower, as well as a home theater and large ballroom.

Epelboym's travels keep him away from home 10 months out of the year, making this estate ready for its next chapter. "This is unique," Boriskin said. "I don't think anything has ever been on the market like this, certainly not in Bay Ridge."
