hicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was mistakenly linked to a lavish Lake Forest mansion over the weekend. The 16,000-square-foot property at 999 Lake Road is still on the market after false rumors circulated that Williams had acquired it for nearly $13 million. However, Patrick Milhaupt of Jameson Sotheby's International Realty clarified that there is no contract in place and no knowledge of a sale.
The mansion, built in 1914 and restored in the early 2000s, sits on 3.6 acres with 400 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. Despite its impressive features and prime location, it has yet to attract a buyer willing to pay the $12.99 million asking price. Milhaupt notes that several NFL players, including Bears players, have expressed interest in the property due to its proximity to the team's practice facility.
The rumor coincided with a recent public event at the estate, where over 500 guests toured the home as part of a benefit for the Lake Forest school district. Barstool Sports tweeted that Williams had purchased the home on Thursday, but no contract has been signed. It remains possible that Williams is considering the property or looking at other nearby listings, including two estates priced at $12 million and $15 million.
