alifornia Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife Jennifer have purchased a Mid-Century Modern home in Kentfield, Marin County for $9.1 million, exceeding its asking price by 7%. The 5,600-square-foot property at 224 Woodland Road features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Mount Tamalpais, and a chef's kitchen. The sale was facilitated by an affiliate of the governor and his wife.

    The seller, billionaire Daniel Pritzker, heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune, had initially listed the property for $10.75 million in June before reducing the price to $8.5 million in October. Newsom, a Marin County native, previously owned a home in Kentfield that he sold in 2021 for $5.9 million.

    The purchase comes as Marin County's housing market experiences growth, with the typical home price reaching $1.76 million in September, a 17% increase from the previous month and a 7% year-over-year increase. The Ross Valley area, where Newsom's new home is located, is known for its excellent school district and has attracted celebrities, techies, and venture capitalists.

    Newsom's gubernatorial term runs until 2027, and he maintains a residence in Fair Oaks, a suburb of Sacramento.
