C
ancun authorities shut down a real estate development on Saturday after executing a search warrant. The State Attorney General's Office reported that the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Combating Environmental Crimes searched a property on the border of Alfredo V. Bonfil, suspecting crimes against the environment and urban development by its developer.

During the investigation, authorities found evidence of environmental damage, including filled-in roads and paths made of stone material, organic waste from clearing, and 30,000 square meters of illegally cleared land. The area's flora, fauna, soil, and ecosystems were severely impacted.

The property was being developed in three phases without necessary licenses from urban development and environmental authorities, with plans for 477 residential lots ranging from 814 to 2,000 square meters. After documenting evidence, authorities sealed the property and placed it under state protection.
