A
former strip club in West Chelsea is being redeveloped into a multifamily building. Silvera Properties filed plans to build a 12-story, 135-foot-tall property at 536 West 28th Street, which was previously home to the infamous Scores nightclub. The developer acquired the site from Extell Development for $24.5 million last year and is seeking air rights to increase the allowable square footage to 77,000 square feet.
The proposed building will feature 60 rental units and retail space on the ground floor, along with amenities such as a party room, golf simulator, and dog washing station. The existing three-story building at the site will not be demolished immediately, but rather doubled in size to 60,000 square feet as of right.
Silvera Properties has experience managing rental properties in New York City, including buildings in Tribeca and near the South Street Seaport. The company's core business is in the Hamptons, where it sells high-end homes and offers summer rentals.
