wo record-breaking home sales took place in Chicago's northwest suburbs on Tuesday. A newly constructed mansion in South Barrington sold for a staggering $5.3 million, setting a new high for the area. The 15,000-square-foot, six-bedroom property at 5 Saucer Circle boasts two full kitchens, an elevator, and an eight-car garage, selling for $353 per square foot.
This sale surpasses the previous record of $5 million set in 2022 for a 74-acre equestrian estate. The seller's identity remains undisclosed, but they were represented by Steve McEwen of @properties Christie's International Real Estate. The buyers, also unnamed, worked with Sam Lubeck of Baird & Warner.
In Arlington Heights, a 20-year-old home sold for $3.1 million, setting a new record for the town. The 12,500-square-foot, 10-bedroom property at 543 North Highland Avenue features multiple roof peaks, turrets, and an interior with a swimming pool and basketball court. It sold for $248 per square foot.
The sellers of this home, Karen and Robert Dubinsky, built it in 2004 but have since downsized as their children grew up. Jon Millikin of Jameson Sotheby's International Realty represented the Dubinskys in the sale. These transactions reflect the strength of the luxury housing market in the six-county metro area, where sales above $1.5 million have risen 20% over the past year.
