hen it comes to popular real estate areas, smaller towns near major cities seem to be the way to go. According to Zillow, Connecticut and the Northeast dominated the list for the second year in a row, with seven out of 10 New England markets performing well. The Midwest also saw success, while only one West Coast market cracked the top 10.
The hottest real estate areas are often referred to as "exurbs" - smaller towns within commuting distance of major cities that still offer a more relaxed pace of life. Zillow's list for 2024 includes Manchester, New Hampshire; Rockford, Illinois; Stamford, Connecticut; and others.
Looking ahead to 2025, USA Today predicts the hottest markets will be in Buffalo, New York; Indianapolis, Indiana; Providence, Rhode Island; and other cities across the country. Only time will tell if these predictions come true.
