lexander K. Zabik (LinkedIn photo) has been appointed Managing Director and Head of Credit Investments at The Davis Companies, a firm with a 50‑year legacy in owning, operating, and investing in commercial real estate. Zabik, formerly Principal and Portfolio Manager of Credit at Pennybacker Capital, will steer the company’s credit portfolio, leveraging his deep knowledge of commercial‑real‑estate capital markets to grow and manage high‑yield mortgages, preferred equity, mezzanine, performing notes, SASB, and CMBS investments.

    The appointment expands Davis’s credit platform, allowing the firm to tap its vertically integrated capabilities across the equity and credit spectrum. “Alex’s proven skill in credit markets and sophisticated deal execution makes him the right leader to broaden our credit focus,” said President Stephen Davis. “His addition strengthens our platform and enables a value‑driven, opportunistic approach that harnesses our in‑house expertise.”

    Zabik welcomed the role, noting the firm’s talent pool and integrated model provide a solid base for a differentiated middle‑market credit strategy. “I’m eager to collaborate with the team to uncover new opportunities,” he said.

    With nearly 30 years in commercial real‑estate investment and debt markets, Zabik has overseen more than $5 billion in strategic deals. He founded WestRiver Capital LLC, a $188 million private‑equity credit fund, and spent nine years as Managing Director of BlackRock’s Real Estate Debt Group, where he grew a $4 billion high‑yield debt business. He holds a B.A. from Boston University and an MBA in Finance from Babson College and serves on the President’s Council of the Real Estate Roundtable, the CREFC Planning Committee, the Pension Real Estate Association, and the Real Estate Lenders Association.
