Economists to Examine Real Estate Trends at Land and Lending Conference

Nationally recognized thought leaders to discuss real estate challenges and U.S. economic trends at upcoming SDSU conference.

T
he South Dakota Land and Lending Conference, hosted by the Ness School of Management and Economics at SDSU on October 1 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, will bring together leading economists to analyze real estate markets in the region and beyond. The conference aims to advance understanding of real estate markets, including their response to credit conditions and policy decisions.

"This year's conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities in real estate, as well as the macroeconomic forces driving the US economy," said Joe Santos, director of the Ness School. "We'll explore how interest rates are likely to evolve and the role of the Federal Reserve in shaping that path."

The event will feature a keynote address by Diane Swonk, chief economist at KPMG, on the state of the macroeconomy, followed by a panel discussion with real estate industry leaders on regional challenges and opportunities. Sam Chandan, director of the C.H. Chen Institute for Global Real Estate Finance at NYU, will conclude the event with a presentation on the future of real estate.

Throughout the day, participants can engage in concurrent breakout sessions focused on local real estate markets, as well as an introduction to SDSU's Urban Economic Development outpost and its vision for regional economic growth. The conference is designed to foster relationships among academic researchers, industry professionals, lenders, and policymakers.

The event is a valuable opportunity for real estate developers, lenders, investors, policymakers, regulators, and students to gain insights into the current state of the market and its future prospects. Registration information can be found on the conference website.
