n Nov. 14, 2025, ERCOT announced a partnership with Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station to create models of loads. The study targets data centers, crypto mining, and electrolyzers—loads that differ from traditional ones and threaten grid stability. Results will include benchmark lab models and refined assumptions for grid analyses. The project will also release the first open‑source electromagnetic transient models reflecting large‑load behavior. Funded by Texas’s Grid Research, Innovation and Transformation program, the effort aims to address grid reliability challenges driven by surging demand.
