raham Norton has sold his New York City home at 6 Sniffen Court for $5.3 million, a deal that closed this week. The sale, still pending public record, was reported by a source familiar with the transaction; the new owner remains undisclosed.
The 2,500‑sq‑ft mews house, listed in May for $5.59 million, entered contract in less than 50 days, according to a StreetEasy update. Norton bought the property in 2002 from supermodel Claudia Schiffer and spent years renovating it, preserving its 19th‑century charm while updating the interiors. The three‑story home features soaring 15‑foot ceilings, a lilac‑stone fireplace, and a 465‑sq‑ft roof deck that Norton once called his favorite spot for entertaining. Inside are two bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms, a custom library with floor‑to‑ceiling bookshelves, and a wet bar.
Built in 1864, the house sits in the gated Sniffen Court Historic District, one of only ten converted carriage houses on the block. Sniffen Court, a cobblestone enclave off East 36th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues, has long attracted celebrities such as Lenny Kravitz, Cole Porter, and Irwin Corey. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and remains one of Manhattan’s most sought‑after neighborhoods.
Norton had once considered the home a potential retirement haven. His swift sale mirrors the brisk market for rare mews properties in Manhattan, similar to recent contracts on Upper West Side’s Pomander Walk. Corcoran broker Chris Kann declined to comment on the transaction.
