Experience 'Poltergeist' Horror at This Replicated Haunted House Airbnb

New Owner of Infamous "Poltergeist" House Unveils Haunting Plan for Fans

T
he infamous "Poltergeist" house from 1982 is being transformed into an Airbnb, available to rent by fans of the horror classic. Located in Simi Valley, California, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home was built in 1979 and sold for $1.28 million.

The new owner plans to replicate the iconic movie set, but Halloween enthusiasts will have to wait until next year to book a stay. The property won't be ready on Airbnb before October 31, as the owner wants to make it perfect without rushing the process.

The house features a light-filled living room with massive windows, a formal dining room, and a kitchen with modern appliances. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, including a primary suite with vaulted ceilings and an en-suite bathroom. The backyard boasts a large pool and jacuzzi on 16,000 square feet of space.

The Zillow listing playfully noted that the house is "clean" and ideal for cooling off or hosting parties, adding that it's much safer than building a portal to another dimension. The property was used as the primary filming location for the beloved horror movie directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Steven Spielberg.

"Poltergeist" follows the Freeling family as they encounter paranormal activity in their suburban home, centered around the youngest child Carol Anne who is abducted through a portal in her closet. The film stars Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, and Heather O'Rourke, among others, and was nominated for three Academy Awards.
