Ex-Texas QB Launches Fort Worth Office for Real Estate Company

Colt McCoy joins local office as leader, focusing initially on industrial market.

A
Texas real estate firm has entered the Fort Worth market with the recruitment of Colt McCoy, a former University of Texas at Austin star and NFL quarterback. The company, HPI, will focus on the booming industrial market in Fort Worth. According to Hunter Lee, an HPI partner, McCoy is the ideal leader due to his honesty, community-mindedness, and commitment to making a positive impact.

McCoy's brother, Case, is also involved with HPI as part of their tenant advisory group. After retiring from the NFL in 2024, McCoy had opportunities in broadcasting, coaching, and sports but chose to pursue real estate. He spent offseasons working in various industries, including finance, energy, and real estate, which helped him gain valuable experience.

McCoy said he was fortunate to have mentors throughout his career, including Roger Staubach, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback who transitioned into real estate. Staubach's success has inspired McCoy as he builds the HPI team in Fort Worth. McCoy plans to leverage his football skills, such as building a strong team and setting goals, to drive success in the real estate industry.

The first priorities for the new HPI outpost are finding office space and hiring the initial team members. McCoy is excited about the opportunity to call Fort Worth home, citing its growth potential and community spirit. With demand for industrial space surging by nearly 60% since 2020, HPI sees a strong future in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

HPI plans to build a full-service platform in Fort Worth, offering services from third-party leasing and management to development and acquisition. Lee emphasized that finding the right person committed to the community was essential before entering the North Texas market. McCoy is eager to get involved in the community and build something special in Fort Worth, which he believes has tremendous potential for growth.
