n the Sunshine State, where housing affordability is rapidly dwindling, a beacon of hope has emerged for first-time homebuyers. Nestment, a pioneering real estate education company, has joined forces with The Keyes Co., a Florida-based brokerage, to launch NestGen - a groundbreaking five-week program designed to empower aspiring homeowners.

Starting May 21, this comprehensive initiative will guide participants through the intricacies of home financing, mortgage preapprovals, and property analysis. By sharing expert knowledge and real-world experience, NestGen aims to bridge the gap between buyers and their dream homes. "Florida's housing market has become increasingly daunting for young and first-time buyers," said Christina Pappas, president of The Keyes Co. "NestGen offers a supportive community where individuals can navigate this complex landscape with confidence."

Through weekly sessions, participants will learn creative strategies to overcome affordability challenges, such as co-buying and house hacking. They'll also receive guidance on long-term homeownership and property management. What's more, some attendees may be eligible for up to $25,000 in support towards their home purchase.

Florida's housing market has become a formidable obstacle course for first-time buyers. With the state ranking 21st in housing affordability and boasting one of the lowest shares of millennial home loan recipients, Nestment is addressing this pressing issue head-on. According to data, the median home price that a typical Floridian could afford dropped from $267,600 to $238,800 between 2017 and 2021.

NestGen's CEO, Niles Lichtenstein, emphasized the program's focus on providing support for buyers exploring alternative paths to homeownership. "We believe in the transformative power of homeownership," he said. "In Florida, where affordability is a daily challenge, this partnership with Keyes brings buyers the guidance they need - across every aspect of the process and every neighborhood."

By combining Nestment's expertise with The Keyes Co.'s nearly century-long experience in Florida's real estate market, NestGen aims to create a more inclusive and accessible homeownership landscape. With over 80% of past participants being first-time buyers and two-thirds identifying as first-generation immigrants or from communities of color, this initiative is poised to make a meaningful impact on diverse communities.
