lorida's real estate market is experiencing a slowdown, with some neighborhoods feeling the impact. Veronika Mykhaskiv, a local real estate agent trying to sell her own home, notes that the market has shifted significantly. "For Sale" signs are popping up, but there aren't many moving boxes in sight. Mykhaskiv says she's facing the same challenges as her clients.
Homes are lingering on the market with prices dropping and fewer buyers showing interest. Randall Burroughs, who lives next to a house listed since October 2024, attributes the trend to excessive building and economic uncertainty. "It's all about the almighty dollar," he says. "People are trying to pinch pennies due to inflation."
Stephen Petty, a real estate agent with VIP Realty in Southwest Florida, points out that new developers lowering prices is negatively impacting the market. "They tank their own market by lowering prices, causing people to look elsewhere," he explains. Petty notes that the high prices of 2021 are no longer sustainable.
Despite the challenges, Petty remains optimistic about the future of the market. "The beaches haven't disappeared, and neither has the weather," he says. "We're in recovery mode, but I believe our market will bounce back strongly over the next few years."
