The imposter account, created in May, has been posting fake listings on local community groups, including the Nosey Neighbors of Auburn and the Decatur Discussion Board.A concerned citizen reported interacting with a suspicious listing that asked for a $50 application fee. After contacting JM Realty, she confirmed the post was not legitimate.Jerry Starks, owner of JM Realty, said they've tried to shut down the fake page through Facebook but have been unsuccessful.To avoid falling victim to similar scams, look out for these red flags: Check if the business's profile information is accurate.Is there another verified page for the same company?Was the page created recently?Does it have a small number of followers and likes?Are comments turned off on posts?If something seems too good to be true, don't rush into decisions, especially online.
