eritage Real Estate Group, a Yakima-based company serving clients since the 1990s, has been sold to John L. Scott Real Estate of Yakima. Heritage owner Moriet Miketa announced the sale on October 24, citing a strong alignment of values with Cory Bemis and the Yakima John L. Scott office. "My single most important consideration was finding a company that shares our love for the Yakima Valley and our approach to business," Miketa said.
Miketa joined Heritage in 2013 and became sole owner in 2019, after co-owner Bill Moutray's departure. The company has its roots in the 1990s with Moutray. John L. Scott, established in Seattle in 1931, acquired Creekside Realty in 2018, making Bemis the new owner of the Yakima office.
Miketa initiated a conversation with Bemis to discuss succession planning for Heritage's future. "Every small-business owner recognizes the importance of a solid succession plan," she said. Miketa plans to remain as a broker with John L. Scott after the sale.
