A
historic oceanfront property in Little Compton, Rhode Island, has sold for $6.5 million after being on the market for just three days. The 2.14-acre parcel at 21 Atlantic Drive was owned by one family since 1901 and features a six-bedroom house built in 1938 with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. The property's unique location, which includes a sought-after surf break and unparalleled fishing opportunities, contributed to its high demand.
According to Cherry Arnold, sales associate at Mott & Chace Sotheby's International Realty, there is "just tons of demand for something like that and very little supply" in the area. Little Compton's small size and legacy properties make it difficult for new listings to come on the market, making this sale a rare occurrence.
The property was designed by renowned architect Royal Barry Wills and features two cozy fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows offering picturesque views of the surrounding landscape. The sale price marks the highest transaction in Little Compton since November 2020, when a nearby home sold for $7.3 million.
