Hyannis shopping plaza that once housed a Whole Foods Market has been sold for $44.1 million to Continental Realty Corporation of Maryland. Southwind Plaza on Route 132 spans 258,110 square feet and features major retailers like Home Depot, Kohl's, and Ethan Allen. The property was purchased by the company in a deal recorded January 9 at the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds.
Continental Realty is a commercial real estate firm with a portfolio valued over $4 billion, according to its website. The company has a diverse range of properties, including shopping centers, apartment complexes, and office parks. Two large retail spaces are available for new tenants in Southwind Plaza.
The plaza was previously owned by Bandera Ventures, which bought it from Boston Wilder Co. for $61.7 million in 2022. Whole Foods Market had occupied a space at the plaza since the early 2000s before relocating to a new location last fall.
