Inside Joaquin Phoenix's Private Real Estate Holdings

Oscar-winning actress keeps a low profile in her Hollywood Hills home

J
oaquin Phoenix's private life is as elusive as his homes. The actor rarely opens up to the press about his personal life and isn't active on social media, making it difficult to know much about him outside of his acting career. However, we do have some insight into his real estate portfolio.

Phoenix co-owned a NYC loft with Casey Affleck for many years. The 2,400-square-foot space featured exposed brick, concrete floors, and tall ceilings, and was located on the seventh floor of an eight-story building in SoHo. Although the exact price and date they purchased it are unknown, the unit was listed for $3.9 million in 2017. Phoenix and Affleck had a falling out around that time, with Phoenix stating he hadn't spoken to his former brother-in-law in years.

Phoenix has maintained his primary residence in the Hollywood Hills since 2006, when he purchased it for about $4.8 million. The 1929 mission-style bungalow sits on a 2.9-acre lot and spans around 3,800 square feet with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Although photos of the house are scarce, glimpses can be seen in I'm Still Here, where Phoenix is shown enjoying canyon and city views from his backyard.

In 2017, Rooney Mara moved into Phoenix's home after selling her Los Feliz property, and they made their relationship public that year. The couple has since welcomed two children. Aerial photos of the property taken in 2022 show a construction zone in the backyard, with a redone swimming pool and a barren dirt area.

Phoenix also owns a neighboring Cape Cod-style house in the Hollywood Hills, which he purchased for about $1.4 million in 2013. The 2,500-square-foot home has three bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms. Listing photos reveal wood-beam ceilings, an outdoor fireplace, French doors, and a spacious kitchen with red cabinets. In 2020, plant-based restaurant Crossroads Kitchen shared a photo of Phoenix inside the dwelling's kitchen.
