n the heart of south London's Crystal Palace, a stately Victorian mansion has emerged from the shadows of Netflix's 2024 thriller series "Black Doves," where it served as Keira Knightley's clandestine lair. This opulent residence, nestled at 7 Tudor Road, is now on the market with a price tag exceeding $6.48 million.
Behind its grand facade, the five-bedroom property boasts an array of luxurious features, including a bespoke deVOL kitchen with a sprawling island and double fridge, a sun-kissed dining nook, and a sitting room with parquet floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a sleek black fireplace that opens onto a expansive terrace.
The primary suite is a haven, complete with an en-suite area and dressing room, while the family bathroom features a walk-in shower and freestanding tub. The home's 6,000 square feet of living space are further enhanced by a basement game room with a billiards table and cozy mini home theater.
The current owner, Lisa Thoy, acquired the property in 2016 as a family home for her sons, who attended Dulwich College nearby. However, when Netflix came knocking with an offer to film "Black Doves" on the premises, she reconsidered, and the deal proved lucrative – both financially and personally.
Thoy's family was relocated to a modest rental during filming, but they couldn't resist sneaking back to watch their home transform into the Webb family's secret base. A bonus perk of the production was the crew's construction of a shed in the garden, where Paapa Essiedu's character met his demise; her son now uses it for music and gym gear.
The property's rich history adds another layer of charm, dating back to its construction for William Morris, a retired surgeon who lived there with two servants until his death at 66. Historian Melanie Backe-Hansen uncovered the mansion's past, which includes a string of residents, including naval captain Halton Stirling Lecky in 1939.
As London's sprawl has encroached upon the surrounding countryside, the mansion's views have been altered, but its grandeur remains intact. Listed with Mark Breffit of Hamptons Estate Agents, this nearly 6,000-square-foot gem features a gravel terrace with outdoor dining and a grassy lawn framed by plant borders.
"For those who appreciate a touch of glamour," Breffit notes, "the house's starring role in a popular Netflix show adds an intriguing element to its already impressive pedigree." Despite its star turn, Thoy is now ready to downsize, citing that the house had become too large for her and her husband after their children left home.
