Kent apartment complex has changed hands in a recent deal that highlights investor interest in the area. The Driftwood Apartments, comprising 382 units across multiple parcels, was sold by Goodman Real Estate to an entity based in Honolulu for $92.7 million, or approximately $242,670 per unit.
The property includes a 162-unit complex built in 1978 at 1610 W James Place and a second parcel with 220 units located at 1414 W James Place. The site also encompasses nearly five acres of land. Its prime location offers access to major highways and is situated near the Sea-Tac International Airport.
Goodman Real Estate acquired the property, then known as Avante Phase II, in 2017 for $54.1 million or roughly $333,950 per unit. The company specializes in multifamily and commercial real estate, with a portfolio valued at over $3.2 billion. This sale follows another Kent multifamily community sold by Goodman earlier this year, the Astral Apartments, which was purchased for $36.6 million or about $236,129 per unit.
