os Angeles County District Attorney candidate Nathan Hochman made the rounds to luxury brokerages this week, receiving warm welcomes from The Beverly Hills Estates and The Oppenheim Group. On Monday evening, a crowd of about 175 gathered at The Oppenheim Group's Sunset Boulevard office in West Hollywood to hear from Hochman, who is appealing to voters concerned with crime and public safety issues.
The following day, Hochman visited The Beverly Hills Estates office on Sunset Boulevard, which was touted on the brokerage's social media channels. Hochman is facing off against incumbent DA George Gascón, a progressive elected in 2020 with policies focused on criminal justice reform.
At the Oppenheim event, about 50 agents and clients attended, along with concerned citizens and local officials such as City Councilmembers Traci Park and John Lee, and former city councilman Joe Buscaino. President Jason Oppenheim said that Los Angeles has rejected Gascón's policies and that Hochman will be given a mandate to effect change.
Oppenheim noted that he has seen more clients leave the city in the past two years due to crime, citing Newport Beach, Montecito, and Malibu as popular destinations for those who remain in California. Those who leave the state often head to Miami, Austin, Nashville, or Las Vegas. Oppenheim believes that crime has damaged the luxury real estate market and the city as a whole.
