LA Mansion Owned by Heir to Billionaire Baseball Owner Vandalized with Graffiti

Middleton, son of Phillies owner John S. Middleton, criticized for neglecting properties.

illionaire heir John Powers Middleton's second mansion in Los Angeles has fallen victim to relentless vandalism, just weeks after his other property made headlines for being tagged with "Diddy was here." Both properties, now defaced and overrun by squatters, have become a symbol of neglect in affluent neighborhoods.

Middleton, son of Philadelphia Phillies owner John S. Middleton, has been under fire for allowing the homes to fall into disrepair. The most recent incident occurred at his Sunset Plaza mansion, where graffiti reappeared just days after a fresh coat of paint was applied.

In a statement, Middleton apologized to the people of Los Angeles and his neighbors, acknowledging the ongoing problems at the homes, including break-ins, graffiti, and squatting, despite hiring property managers and security. He claimed that recent clean-up efforts were thwarted by relentless trespassers, who have been overwhelming his security teams.

Middleton's other mansion, valued at $6.53 million, has also seen significant issues, with unpaid property taxes piling up and a lien placed on the house. Local officials are losing patience, with Councilmember Nithya Raman blasting Middleton for what she called his "egregious violation of the law."

Middleton expressed frustration over the continued vandalism and stated his intent to sell the houses once they are restored. He defended his efforts, stating that he had hired security teams to protect the properties, but acknowledged that they were overwhelmed by the relentless trespassers.

In response to the ongoing chaos, Middleton claims he's now beefed up security with 24/7 armed guards and has multiple crews working to repair the damage. He vowed to repay any taxpayer money used to secure the homes and promised to settle his unpaid taxes.
