altham's Leland House Welcomes First Residents

The first residents have moved into Waltham's newly completed Leland House, a property developed by 2Life Communities. Located at 21 Newton Street, this is the organization's 11th property and its first in Waltham. The innovative model of aging in community brings dignity, comfort, and connection to more seniors across the state.

"We're thrilled to welcome our new residents to Leland House," said Lizbeth Heyer, President of 2Life Communities. "Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where seniors can thrive."

Leland House features 68 affordable apartments for seniors, including one- and two-bedroom units with full kitchens and bathrooms. The building also includes a Village Center on the ground floor, offering flexible spaces for fitness, wellness activities, arts programming, community events, and more.

Local officials recently toured Leland House to learn about its state-of-the-art facilities and services. "Today is an exciting day for Waltham as 2Life Communities welcomes residents to Leland House," said Representative John Lawn. "This development emphasizes affordability, adaptability, and connection, contributing directly to the long-term wellbeing of seniors."

The City of Waltham Mayor Jeanette McCarthy praised 2Life Communities for creating a beautiful and affordable place to live for seniors. Patrick O'Brien, Director of the William F. Stanley Senior Center in Waltham, noted that Leland House offers an ideal location for seniors to age in place, surrounded by familiar people and resources.

Leland House replaces the former Leland Home, which served generations of older adults since 1879. The new campus provides much-needed housing to the local senior population and is situated near transit, retail, and the William F. Stanley Senior Center.

2Life's model addresses two major threats to aging optimally: affordability and loneliness. By providing deeply supportive, affordable housing and creating dynamic environments where seniors can thrive, 2Life offers seniors the opportunity to age in their communities. The organization aims to expand its model across the state, collaborating with policymakers to support seniors living affordably with purpose and dignity.
