A
luxury home on Dickens Avenue in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood has set a new benchmark for high-end sales after selling for $14.25 million, just over a month after hitting the public market. The 15,000-square-foot mansion was initially listed at $15 million, making it one of the priciest listings in the city behind a Park Tower penthouse owned by billionaire Ken Griffin.
The sellers, Paul and Monica Kepes, purchased the land and built the property for $20 million in 2014. Despite taking a loss of just over $950 per square foot, their success shows that top-dollar asks can still be viable in neighborhoods like Lincoln Park. In contrast, another record-breaking home on North Burling Street sold for significantly less than its asking price after years on the market and multiple price cuts.
The Dickens Avenue mansion features seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and five outdoor spaces, including private terraces and decks. Its tax bill for 2022 was $150,309. The buyers' identity remains unknown as the transaction has not yet been publicly recorded.
