Mark Roberts, CFA, AIA, Managing Director of Research at Crow Holdings Capital (CHC) and Director of Research at SMU’s Cox Folsom Institute, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Graaskamp Research Award. The biennial award honors James A. Graaskamp’s pioneering work and recognizes individuals whose research has substantially advanced institutional real‑estate knowledge. The winner was announced on Oct. 23 at the 35th Annual Institutional Investor Conference in Boston.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award,” Roberts said. “I have always aimed to produce research that informs investment decisions and deepens our collective understanding of real‑estate markets. I am grateful to my colleagues at CHC and to the many professionals who have shaped my work and inspired my commitment to developing the next generation of talent.”
With more than 30 years of global real‑estate experience, Roberts mentors emerging researchers and leads CHC’s research function. He delivers investment outlooks that guide client decisions and collaborates on new strategies to meet worldwide needs. His latest study on the performance of moderately priced rental housing appeared in PREA’s special edition of the Journal of Portfolio Management.
Bob McClain, CEO of CHC, praised Roberts: “Mark’s recognition reflects the intellectual rigor, curiosity, and dedication he brings to our industry. His research not only advances real‑estate investment theory but also equips our teams and clients to navigate an increasingly complex market. We are proud to celebrate this well‑deserved honor and fortunate to have Mark’s leadership at Crow Holdings.”
Crow Holdings and the SMU Cox Folsom Institute celebrate this achievement and look forward to continued contributions to institutional real‑estate research.
