Massachusetts Businesses Honored with MassEcon Impact Awards for Growth and Success

MassEcon Announces 21st Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Award Winners

assEcon, the state's private sector partner in promoting business growth in Massachusetts, has announced its 21st Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Award winners. The companies were selected for their outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy through job growth, facility expansion and investment, community involvement, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

    The winning companies, spanning from Greater Boston to Western Massachusetts, will be honored at a ceremony on April 9, 2025, at UMass Boston. Citizens is the Presenting Sponsor of the event. "These awardees are making significant contributions to the economic health of Massachusetts in every region," said Peter Abair, MassEcon's Executive Director.

    The companies were chosen after site visits and interviews with regional teams of judges. The expansion projects represent a financial investment of $280 million, expanded facilities by 1.152 million square feet, and added 822 jobs to the state's economy. These companies currently employ over 8,340 people and will continue to increase headcounts.

    Massachusetts continues to be a national leader in innovation and economic growth, with these awardees embodying that spirit. They are driving job creation, expanded facilities, and investment across diverse regions while making significant contributions to the Commonwealth's vibrancy. Secretary of Economic Development Yvonne Hao praised their continued success and commitment to Team MA.

    Werfen will receive its second Economic Impact Award, and Moderna will receive its second award for regional expansion in Massachusetts. Moderna will also receive the Summit Achievement Award for continued expansion and investment throughout Massachusetts over 15 years. The Innovation Excellence Award will be presented to Berkshire Innovation Center for driving innovation and sustainable growth of the technology-focused economy in the Berkshires.

    * Greater Boston: Astellas, Cambridge; Moderna, Cambridge; Braskem, Lexington

    * Northeast: Werfen, Bedford; Munters, Amesbury; EvolOH, Lowell

    * Southeast: Karl Storz, Franklin; Air Energy, Brockton; Aclarity, Medway

    * West: Berkshire Health Systems, North Adams; Electro Magnetic Applications, Pittsfield; Berkshire Innovation Center, Pittsfield

    Special awards include the Summit Achievement Award for Moderna and the Innovation Excellence Award for Berkshire Innovation Center.
