A
new real estate platform is set to launch, allowing users to explore areas based on their political leanings. Oyseey, a tech startup, will initially roll out the tool in South Florida and New York City, providing consumers with data-driven insights into local politics and housing trends. This includes election results, campaign contributions, and commercial data.
The platform's launch comes as a survey from Realtor.com revealed that nearly a quarter of Americans consider local and national politics when buying real estate. The study found that 38% of respondents believe their neighbors share similar views, while 17% have considered moving due to differing opinions. Millennials were more likely to prioritize politics in their decision-making process, with one-third citing it as a major factor.
According to Hannah Jones, senior economic research analyst at Realtor.com, millennials are more inclined to consider community values when buying a home and building roots. The survey also showed that liberals place greater importance on shared political views than conservatives or moderates, with 30% of liberals citing it as crucial compared to 27% of conservatives and 18% of moderates.
