A
federal judge has denied bail appeals for Oren, Tal, and Alon Alexander, who will remain in jail until their sex trafficking trial. The brothers were absent from the hearing on Wednesday before Judge Valerie Caproni, where prosecutors presented a breakdown of the alleged victims. Over 20 women claim to have been raped by Oren between 2011 and 2021, while 13 women allege Alon assaulted them, including minors.
Prosecutor Andrew Jones detailed allegations against each brother, including instances of intimidation and threats to silence victims. The brothers' attorneys argued that they are not a flight risk, citing their marital status and the fact that most recent allegations date back to 2021. However, Judge Caproni dismissed concerns about jail conditions, stating "horror stories" were no longer true.
The brothers will be transferred to New York next week and held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Their parents have expressed concern for their safety due to past reports of neglect and dangerous conditions. The government has presented evidence of a hard drive containing explicit videos found in Tal's apartment, which allegedly show the brothers engaging in sexual contact with intoxicated women.
Attorneys for the brothers had previously offered up to $1 billion in bail, secured by family assets, but were rejected by a Florida judge who deemed Alon a flight risk. The Alexanders have denied all allegations and are facing additional charges in Miami-Dade County and civil lawsuits alleging rape and drugging of women.
