ara Kennedy-Cuomo, daughter of former Governor Andrew Cuomo, spoke out about the city's housing crisis at her father's mayoral campaign launch last weekend. The 30-year-old expressed frustration with the lack of affordable housing options in New York City, having recently moved to Brooklyn after living in a $8,242-a-month apartment in Midtown East.
However, what wasn't mentioned is that Cuomo has taken over his daughter's former apartment as his own residence. Records show that Cuomo had listed his voter registration at the ritzy East 54th Street address in September, and it's now confirmed to be his full-time pad.
Cuomo's spokesperson said he'd been staying part-time at the luxury spot for over a year before making it his primary residence. Cara had been living there with her father after graduating from business school, but she recently moved out.
The Oriana building, where Cuomo resides, boasts high-end amenities including a retro arcade, library, and pet spa. It's also conveniently located near Gracie Mansion, the current mayor's residence. Despite being a neighbor, many residents seem unaware of Cuomo's presence in the building.
Cuomo's Democratic primary opponents are seizing on his lack of residency in New York City, with some questioning his commitment to the city. "Even if you put aside Andrew Cuomo's track record of mismanagement and misconduct, the fact is he hasn't lived in New York City for more than 20 years," said a Scott Stringer campaign spokesperson.
Cuomo's current residence at the Oriana building has raised eyebrows among some residents, with one neighbor describing him as "not really chatting with anybody." Another resident expressed skepticism about Cuomo's past history, but noted that the current mayor had committed worse offenses in their opinion.
