ulia Koch, one of the world's wealthiest individuals with an estimated net worth of $74.2 billion, has sold her 18-room duplex at Manhattan's iconic 740 Park Ave for $45 million. The sale was first reported by The Real Deal.
The buyer is a New Yorker, according to sources. Koch's co-op, spanning 8,500 square feet across the fourth and fifth floors, boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two powder rooms, and impressive design features like a curved staircase, marble fireplaces, and large entertaining spaces.
Originally listed for $48 million in 2022, the duplex offers a private elevator landing, a marble entry foyer, and a living room with wide-plank oak floors, a window wall, and its own marble fireplace. The eat-in chef's kitchen, formal dining room, and wood-paneled library with built-in bar are also notable features.
Koch is the widow of David Koch, an ultra-conservative billionaire who co-owned Koch Industries. She has been busy with various real estate transactions in recent years, including buying two Upper East Side co-ops from Paul Allen's estate for $101 million and selling a $41 million townhouse on the Upper East Side.
740 Park Ave, built in 1929 by Rosario Candela and Arthur Loomis Harmon, has been home to some of the world's most elite residents, including John D. Rockefeller, Vera Wang, and former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The building features 31 units, including duplexes and triplexes, and was even the subject of a book: "740 Park: The Story of the World's Richest Apartment Building."
The listing brokers were Corcoran's Leighton Candler, Bradley Comisar, and Jennifer Reardon.
