Paris Hilton's $63M Mark Wahlberg Mansion Buy Tops US Sales in June

Woman's record-breaking home purchase tops Redfin's list, but comes amidst personal tragedy.

P
aris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, made a splash in the US real estate market with their $63 million purchase of Mark Wahlberg's former Beverly Hills mega-mansion. This pricey deal topped Redfin's list of the country's most expensive home sales for June, with five other California-based transactions also making the cut.

The massive estate, which spans 6 private acres and features a sports court, skate park, and golf course, was sold by Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Durham in 2023 for $55 million. However, the sellers made a tidy profit from the deal, even accounting for Los Angeles' hefty mansion tax.

Hilton's family had recently lost their oceanfront Malibu home to the Palisades Fire, which raged through California in January. The heiress and influencer was candid about the loss on Instagram, saying it was an experience no one should have to endure.

The sheer scale of their new home makes its price a little more understandable. With 12 bedrooms, a wine and cigar cellar, and staff quarters, the nearly 30,500-square-foot spread is a luxurious oasis. The outdoor pool features a grotto, waterfalls, and waterslides, while the grounds include a sports court, skate park, and five-hole golf course.

The luxury market in Los Angeles is being driven by displaced homeowners like Hilton, according to Nicole Plaxen, an agent with Beverly Hills Estates. Plaxen also noted a return of foreign buyers, particularly from China.

Other notable sales on Redfin's list included three transactions in coastal Florida, one in Manhattan, and another on Lake Tahoe's Nevada side. The year's most expensive deal so far belongs to the $225 million sale of three adjacent beachfront properties in Naples, Florida.
