T
he Zeckendorf family, behind the development of 520 Park Avenue, has finally sold its crown jewel - a duplex penthouse that was never officially listed. The sale price is reportedly $79 million, which works out to $9,500 per square foot for the 8,300-square-foot unit. This marks the last sponsor sale in the building, with a total sales volume of $1.05 billion from its 35 full residences.
The penthouse was initially conceived as a triplex and hit the market in 2014 with an asking price of $130 million. Five years later, the developers split it into a duplex covering the top two floors and a simplex below, which sold for $34.5 million in 2022. The sale is one of the largest this year, following deals at Aman New York and Central Park Tower.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home features 15-foot ceilings on both floors and 1,218 feet of outdoor space across a balcony and a terrace. It's not the only impressive penthouse in the building - four other duplexes have sold for $73.8 million, $67.9 million, $64.3 million, and $62 million respectively, attracting famous residents like James Dyson and Ken Moelis.
