uthorities in Indiana are investigating the death of Susan Haynie, a longtime real estate agent. On August 27, police found her body in the basement of her home on East Gum Street in Evansville. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office identified her and the Evansville Police Department is treating her death as a homicide.

    "We investigate every death as if it were a crime until we're proven otherwise," said EPD Sgt. Anthony Aussieker. "In this case, evidence led us to believe it was a homicide." A person of interest has been arrested on unrelated charges and will be investigated further.

    Residents in the quiet neighborhood where Haynie lived expressed shock at the news. "It's not typical for something like this to happen here," said Tonya Dunn, a neighbor. Police are still gathering information and have not released all details.

    An autopsy was conducted with results pending. Haynie's funeral is scheduled for Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She worked as part of Team McClintock at the F.C. Tucker real estate firm in Indiana, where she guided over 2,000 families through buying and selling their homes. The company released a statement saying they will miss her dearly and look forward to honoring her life on Thursday.
