A
relatively unknown small company, reAlpha Tech, is making waves with a premarket surge of over 50%. It's currently the ninth-most-traded US issue, outpacing major players like Apple and Amazon. The Dublin, Ohio-based firm claims to be the "real estate superapp" and the world's first commission-free AI homebuying platform.
The stock's advance appears to be fueled by a combination of buzzwords: AI and crypto. On December 19, reAlpha announced its board approved a cryptocurrency investment policy, adopting certain cryptocurrencies as primary treasury reserve assets. This move sent shares soaring over 30% that day. Management also revealed a share offering on the same day.
With just $7.1 million in cash at the end of Q3, reAlpha's choice of preferred reserve asset seems immaterial to its performance. The company has a history of rapid price swings, with an initial listing on Nasdaq resulting in a 1,600% spike before giving up two-thirds of that gain in after-hours trading.
