he U.S. Department of Government Efficiency has cancelled leases for over 748 government agency sites across the country, resulting in a significant reduction of nearly 10 million square feet of space and estimated savings of $468 million. This includes a local impact in Rhode Island, where the federal government is expected to save around $812,000.
Mary Sadlier, who manages office space used by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in East Providence, was among those notified of the lease cancellation. The 1,556 square foot space on Risho Avenue will no longer be needed, according to an email from the General Services Administration.
