T
he San Antonio Housing Trust is seeking a development partner to bring a multifamily project to the city's South Side as part of the Vida master-planned community. This 530-unit development will be built in three phases, with the first phase consisting of 90 units designed for senior residents prioritizing affordability and accessibility.
Twenty percent of these units will be reserved for low-income families earning 30% of the area median income, approximately $26,550 annually for a family of four. The project aims to connect housing for older adults on the South Side with nearby healthcare facilities and educational opportunities.
The development partner and architect of record are being sought by the trust, which has already completed the master planning phase in collaboration with San Antonio-based architecture firm Lake Flato. Future phases are expected to begin in 2026, with all units designated as rentals.
Additionally, the trust is pursuing the acquisition of nearly 6 acres in the Cattleman Square area for affordable housing and mitigating gentrification pressures. This includes properties such as the National Grocer Company building, vacant land behind the Scobey industrial complex, and other nearby sites.
