kanska, a global construction and development firm, has completed renovations on two Boston educational facilities: Higgins Hall at Boston College and Robinson Hall at Northeastern University. These "summer slammer" projects focused on upgrading campus buildings during the summer months to prepare for the upcoming fall semester.

    "We're proud to announce the completion of these intensive summer projects," said Mark Lootz, Vice President-Project Executive for Skanska's New England Region. "Our team has set a new standard for small-scale projects like these, and we're committed to delivering high-quality renovations that enhance the academic experience for students."

    At Northeastern's Robinson Hall, an $11 million renovation included installing a new rooftop unit, over 100 variable air volume systems (VAVs), and implementing fire protection and alarm systems. The project also featured small fit-outs such as classrooms, a lobby, and dance studio.

    Skanska returned to Boston College this summer to renovate the Higgins Hall auditorium, following last year's $1.5 million renovation. This year's $2 million project involved demolishing existing seating, replacing flooring, and installing new finishes for ceiling soffits and acoustic panels. Electrical system modifications and upgrades to projectors, screens, microphones, speakers, and cameras were also made.

    Skanska has a long history with Boston College, starting in 2019 with the renovation of the Margot Connell Recreation Center. The $127 million project transformed the previous recreation center into a state-of-the-art facility featuring a competitive swimming pool, rock climbing wall, and various student amenities.

    These summer projects demonstrate Skanska's ability to handle smaller-scale projects alongside its expertise in large-scale developments.
