SQRL's Non-Real Estate Assets to Be Sold at Auction

Initial bid comes from a well-known entity with past ties to hundreds of SQRL convenience stores.

S
QRL Service Stations is auctioning off its non-real-estate assets from 406 former convenience stores. The assets, which include furniture, fixtures, and equipment, are being sold after the company's owner, Gas Hub LLC, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last year.

The only bid so far has come from Jamal Hizam, Gas Hub's CEO, who is attempting to recoup some of the assets he lost in bankruptcy. Hizam had previously acquired the leases for hundreds of SQRL convenience stores for $17 million but was forced to liquidate his company after failing to meet financial obligations.

The auction is open to anyone, including landlords who were left with significant losses due to SQRL's negligence and mismanagement over the past two years. The trustee, Ann Burns, has invited these landlords to bid on the assets, which could help them recover some of their losses.

Hizam's $50,000 bid covers 100 of the former SQRL properties, with nearly half located in Louisiana and the rest scattered across several other states. However, it's unclear what personal property is included in the auction, as Burns has emphasized that there is "no warranty" that SQRL Service Stations owns any assets at its former convenience stores.

Suitors have until the end of the month to submit a bid, although no set date for the auction has been announced.
