U
pstate New York tops the nation in September real‑estate “hotness.” According to the National Association of Realtors, Wayne County ranks 4th nationwide and 1st in the state, while Monroe County is 20th overall and 2nd in New York. Three additional New York counties break into the U.S. top 100: Livingston (41st), Broome (72nd), and Onondaga (77th). The remaining hot spots in the state are all in the upstate region; the nearest outlier, Westchester County, sits at 26th in New York and 552nd nationwide.

The Realtors’ hotness metric blends supply and demand. Supply is measured by median days on market relative to other counties, while demand is gauged by page‑view counts on realtor.com. The association compiled data for more than 1,600 counties in September, ranking each by a composite hotness score.
